Rozelle House and Gardens – Wednesday 12th April

February 8th, 2017Comments Off on Rozelle House and Gardens – Wednesday 12th April

Rozelle House in Ayr is a major display venue, currently showing a significant collection by Alexander Goudie, a series of 54 paintings portraying the famous Robert Burns poem, Tam O’ Shanter. This exhibition is located in the grade A listed mansion house built by the architect Robert Adam in 1760 who also designed Culzean Castle. In the morning we will have a guided tour of the house and galleries, including the garden sculptures, and after lunch we will visit the WW II memorial garden and the new Bellelisle Conservatory.

Tea and coffee with shortbread and a soup and sandwich lunch will be provided for us at a cost of about £11.00. This will be payable on the day. The cost of the coach will be £14.

We will leave Kirkcudbright Harbour Square at 8.40 am and Castle Douglas (outside Crown Hotel in King Street) at 9.00 am.  We won’t be picking up in Dalbeattie as it is in the opposite direction, but if anyone needs transport we can arrange car sharing (please let me know). We will return at 4.00pm arriving in Castle Douglas at 5.30pm.
