What is the u3a?
u3a is a UK wide, cooperative movement of retired and semi-retired people who come together to continue their educational, social and creative interests in a friendly and informal environment.
The u3a model is low-cost, defined by participants, and learner-led. u3a shows the value of communities of interest and learning which are not defined by age, or by past experience, but instead are defined by the experiences still to be explored. Here is a link to the national u3a.
The Stewartry u3a
The Stewartry u3a is a lively and friendly organisation offering a wide range of study, creative and leisure groups. Our u3a was launched in the winter of 2009 and now has over 300 members. If you would like to be involved or attend any of the groups you should join the Stewartry u3a first and then you would have access to more than 50 different interest groups covering a wide range of subjects.
A general meeting is held monthly with a programme of interesting and topical subjects delivered by excellent speakers. Costs are low because our activities are organised by our members who share their skills and expertise.
Where is The Stewartry?
The Stewartry is the central part of Dumfries and Galloway and includes the towns of Kirkcudbright, Castle Douglas, Dalbeattie, Gatehouse of Fleet and all the villages in the surrounding area.
